She has worked in the fields of medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and gynaecology and has extensive expertise in community health work in underdeveloped nations, especially in Africa.
Dr. Claudette Amuzu has completed many tasks in The Gambia and Sierra Leone and has collaborated with the Medical Research Council, a well-regarded research agency in West Africa. While performing her responsibilities, Claudette has trained junior doctors and delivered lectures on topics such as pneumonia in children, ethical challenges in disclosing HIV/AIDS status, and the situation of deceased HIV spouses. She has also been a prominent speaker on many occasions, including the annual Doctor’s Day in West Africa, which is noteworthy.
Dr Amuzu played an important role in the Prevention and Preparation Ebola Response Team in the Gambia. This encounter was quite difficult and sparked her curiosity to research uncommon and lethal diseases caused by infection. As a result, her research thesis for her postgraduate studies focuses on the Ebola virus disease (EVD). Claudette is also engaged in social and humanitarian work in Africa and heads a dynamic group of young female activists in Sierra Leone, advocating for women’s rights in Africa, known as the Essence Club.
